Parents Evening

Parents evening is on Wednesday 12th May. Report cards will be given out prior to this. If you are unable to attend on this day or if another time is more convenient, please let me know . Thanks.

Science Centre

P1 are going to the Science Centre on Thursday for their trip. We will be leaving as soon as the school bus arrives and will be back in time for the end of the day. Please send your child with their lunch in a plastic bag so that it can be disposed of after we have eaten. Children will not be able to buy lunch. We will be going to the shop there so children can bring money. A maximum of £5 is a suitable amount to bring. It should be a really good day.

Floppy's Birthday Hat from P1

Mrs Speirs has selected Ben's hat to be put forward from P1. It will be sent away with the entries from P2/3. I wonder if we will have a winner from Cedars?

Floppy's Birthday

We have been making hats for Floppy's birthday. It is a competition that the Oxford Reading Tree are running and Mrs Speirs will be selecting one of the hats to be the entry for P1. I wonder who it will be?

crossing the road

We had a super visit from Margaret today. She spoke to us all about crossing the road, pavements, roads, different crossings and traffic. Margaret told us that we need to stand behind the kerb and hold on to a grown ups hand before we cross. We learned that the red man means stop and that the green man means cross when it's safe. We need to look and listen even when the green man is there.

number bonds

Going over number bonds at home is a great way of helping your child with their maths work. The quicker they are able to recall ways of making different numbers the better. Even if their homework is not an adding sheet, please take a little time to go over them. Thanks.

2nd tennis lesson

We were very pleased that the rain stayed off this afternoon so that we could get outside for our tennis lesson.

People Who Help Us

We are having a visit from Margaret tomorrow who is coming to speak with us about road safety. She will be telling us about how the lollypop lady helps us to cross the road safely. We might even get to try on some of the uniform!

playground toys

We have been enjoying playing with the new toys in the playground. A new quiet area has also been created so that children can sit at benches during playtime.

pupil of the week

Well done to Rachael who is pupil of the week in P1. She has been doing really neat handwriting.

Charlie's Teeth

We all had a shot of brushing Charlie's teeth.

visit from oral health

Today we had a visit from Laura. She told us about how to look after our teeth and how the dentist helps to keep our teeth healthy. Everyone listened really well and answered her questions. She had brought along Charlie the dinosaur with her and we got to brush his teeth. By the time he left, his teeth were really sparkly! We will be going to Greenock Health Centre to visit the dentist on Thursday May 20th.

tennis

We went over to the tennis courts today for our first tennis session. It was great fun. It was a super day for it. As the term progresses we are hoping that the weather will continue to improve. Please put sun screen on your child before they come to school so that they can enjoy being outside safely. Thanks.

Library

Please note the change in library day. Due to a change in the timetable we will now be having library on a Wednesday. Your child will be choosing a new book this week and should bring it with them next Wednesday to change it. Thanks.

uniform

Trip uniform is needed on Wednesdays and Thursdays this term. We will be going to tennis on Wednesdays and if your child has a racket please send it in with them in the morning. On Thursdays we will be going to Fun World to continue our gym sessions there and we will also be having some topic related visits from people who are coming in to speak about how they help people. We will also be doing some day trips as well. Information about these trips will be given nearer the time.

People Who Help Us

Our topic this term is 'People Who Help Us'. We will be having a number of visits from different people.
